One Hotel, Four Generations
The story of the hotel goes back to 1973 when Mr. Alexandre Torradas e Mrs. Ana Nunes took over 1 floor of the building and started running the business as a bed & breakfast with 8 bedrooms.
As they saw great potential in this particular building, they decided to extend the business and in 1983, Luena had 42 bedrooms.
The daughters of Antonio and Ana: Genoveva and Maria de Lurdes have continued the family business with great success.
In 2015, following a full reconstruction of the building, the initial Bed & Breakfast reopened as a 3 star hotel – Hotel Luena with 36 bedrooms.
With the re-opening of the Hotel in 2015, the daughters of Genoveva, Leonor and Ana Cristina took over the management of the Hotel in 3rd generation.
Today, the four generation of the family carries out the passion for hospitality and keeps welcoming visitors from all parts of the world to experience the beautiful city of Lisbon.
The name Luena represents a name of a city in Angola, Africa and is a tribute to one side of our family that decided to move from Africa to Portugal.
