Estrela Basilica - Estrela\ Lapa



Located in front of Jardim da Estrela, the Basílica da Estrela, is a recognized Catholic temple and former convent of Carmelite nuns. The church, topped by a dome, was inaugurated in 1794 and has characteristics of the late Baroque and Neoclassical styles. The Estrela Basilica was the first church in the world dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and also houses a magnificent nativity scene from the 17th century. XVIII, by Machado de Castro, composed of cork and terracotta figures.


Santa Maria de Belém Church - Belém



In the emblematic Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, characterized by the typical Portuguese Manueline style, you will find the Church of Santa Maria de Belém. In addition to its magnificent beauty, this building tells an interesting story, being the resting place of D. Sebastião, the navigator Vasco da Gama and the poet and national hero Luís Vaz de Camões. Considered a national monument and UNESCO world heritage site!
